TOP 10 MOST BAD-ASS MOVIE TATTOOS

We have rated the best tattooed movie characters and taken into account  the "bad ass’ery" and how they have impacted the story of the film.

Here is Top Movie's most bad-ass tattoos.

1. Guy Pearce in Memento

Not only are Guy Pearce’s tattoo’s in Memento pretty cool, they are also an integral part of the story. Memento is based around a man (that man being Guy Pearce) who has lost his short term memory, because of this he tattoos on himself whatever he remembers as clues to track his wife’s killer. Guy Pearce is a criminally underrated actor, do yourself a favour and check this out if you haven’t already.

2. Edward Norton in American History X
Norton plays Derek Vinyard, a Neo-Nazi skinhead whose inherent intelligence is used in service of his burning hatred of minorities. With his bad ass tattoo Edward Norton looks dangerous. The real kicker is that we're so used to trusting Norton. He's always the baby-faced good guy who we can believe and he turns around a gives this amazingly powerful performance, playing a character that we are forced to loathe.

3. Rooney Mara in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
With a dragon tattoo, piercings and leather-wear Rooney Mara transformed to a girl who you don't want to mess with.

4. Rick Genest in 47 Ronin
The only real life tattooed on and off screen on the list. He was cast as the character Savage in the film 47 Ronin, which was released in late 2013. The big budget samurai fantasy action film stars Keanu Reeves.

5. Ryan Gosling in The Place Beyond the Pines.
Ryan as a stunt rider turned bank robber, who takes to a life of crime to provide for his son.Gosling's character is anything but a model father, and in order to show that he wasn't Ryan had to get the look of a bit of a thug, face tattoos and all, even if it meant that Ryan didn't like his look.

6. Ralph Fiennes in Red Dragon
Ralph Fiennes tattoo in Red Dragon are both creepy and sinister befitting the character perfectly. Fiennes gives one of his best performances as the monster ‘Tooth Fairy’.

 7. Brad Pitt in Snatch

Brad Pitt does a great job, extremely exaggerated yes, but still pretty spot on in Snatch. Some great tattoo’s as well, extremely realistic and covering his most ripped physique since Fight Club.

8. Robert De Niro in Cape Fear
In Cape Fear Robert De Niro played one of the great hard as nails character in film, his tattoo’s just rounded off the all around bullishness of the character. If a man could possibly look like he ate bricks and sh*t houses, that man would most certainly be Max Cady.

9. Viggo Mortensen in Eastern Promises
Any character that has stars tattooed on their knees, symbolizing that they will never kneel before no man has more than earned their place on this list. As in Memento, Nikolai’s tattoo’s have a part to play in the story, without giving too much of the film away it’s actually shows lengths he would go. In Eastern Promises they have to be earned, telling the person’s life story and are used as a sort of passport through the prison system and criminal world, giving status and respect.

10. Matthew McConaughey for Reign of Fire
His role in Reign Of Fire was great, the tattoo’s match his all around hard ass character.
